How ’bout some answers?

by Fr. Emmanuel Hatzidakis

Does the Church believe in the evil eye?

Yes, the Church believes that there are demonic and evil powers. The Church has a prayer read by the priest, but it is not magic incantation. Our faith is in God, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A Christian who has done a full confession, and has received holy Communion has nothing to be afraid of.

  • Don’t wear any phylakta, amulets, talismans, bracelets, “good-luck” charms, or jewelry of any kind, other than a simple cross
  • Don’t allow anyone to read anything over them or do anything to them
  • Don’t participate in any rituals of any kind outside the sacraments of the Church
  • Avoid bad company
  • Don’t fear anything or anyone but God alone; trust in Jesus Christ our God
  • Pray with confidence in the divine power that can overcome any evil

I know that those who are persecuting all of us right now seek my life; but this will not lessen the zeal which I owe to the churches of God one bit.

Books will be your guides

In the last years, evil and heresy will have spread so much that the faithful will not find a priest and shepherd to protect them from error, and to advise them to salvation. The faithful will not be able to receive safe instructions from people, but their other guide will be the texts of the Holy Fathers. Especially in this age, each believer will be responsible for the whole pleroma of the Church…
