How ’bout some answers?
by Fr. Emmanuel Hatzidakis
Does the Church believe in the evil eye?
Yes, the Church believes that there are demonic and evil powers. The Church has a prayer read by the priest, but it is not magic incantation. Our faith is in God, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A Christian who has done a full confession, and has received holy Communion has nothing to be afraid of.
- Don’t wear any phylakta, amulets, talismans, bracelets, “good-luck” charms, or jewelry of any kind, other than a simple cross
- Don’t allow anyone to read anything over them or do anything to them

- Avoid bad company
- Don’t fear anything or anyone but God alone; trust in Jesus Christ our God
- Pray with confidence in the divine power that can overcome any evil

I know that those who are persecuting all of us right now seek my life; but this will not lessen the zeal which I owe to the churches of God one bit.
